Meet the team
John Halfpenny
CEO of CMR Fuel Cells, is an experienced entrepreneur and chartered engineer (CEng) with a successful track record and significant experience in the consumer electronics sector. He founded and subsequently sold: Micrologic Solutions to ARM plc, Telephone Solutions Ltd, HII Ltd, and Enterprise Network Sciences Ltd. to various trade buyers. He was director of embedded software at ARM plc and CEO of Splashpower Ltd. He started his career with Texas Instruments in 1982.
John has a Masters degree from Cambridge University in Engineering Science and is a Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET)
Jill Shaw
Chief Operating Officer has over 20 years experience in Project Management, Engineering Design, Testing and Quality in the Guided Weapons industry. Jill has successfully led and delivered major Prime Contractor Programmes, with teams of in excess of 400 staff and internationally based suppliers. Subsequently as General Manager for a national Test facility she led the successful transition of that facility from an internal supplier to a successful independent commercial business operating in the consumer electronics industry, working in partnership with other businesses in China and the US.
Jill has a B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from Imperial College, London, and an M.Sc. from Hertfordshire University in Control Engineering.
Stephen Barlow
Stephen is a commercial professional with over 15 years of experience in global sales, marketing and senior management for both established and early-stage companies. He has a great depth of experience within the portable consumer electronics industry in which he has procured sales approaching US$100m.
Most recently, Stephen was Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at antenna developer, Antenova, where he was responsible for commercialising the company’s unique technology by driving global sales and marketing activities. During his tenure, Stephen managed to personally secure substantial revenues from global OEMs including Sony Ericsson, Dell and Siemens.
Prior to Antenova, Stephen ran the European Sales operations of antenna market leader Galtronics Ltd who’s sales then comprised 40% of the total GSM market with volume sales to Nokia Mobile Phones, Motorola, Panasonic, Alcatel, Philips Electronics and Mitsubishi.
Stephen holds an MBA as well as further Executive Education at Harvard Business School. |
